Dear Mr. DrePaul,
[…] My mom loves your music. As a matter of fact, whenever she turns on
the television and your video is showing, no one dare not turn the
channel. She said you have a wonderful voice.
Anyway, you take care, keep up the good work. My best wishes to you.

comments: I first heard Slingshot’s “Christmas in Guyana” when I was
doing just that, my wife and I were in Georgetown for the first time in
just over 40 years. I tried everywhere to get a copy of the song with no
success.
We were back in Georgetown in Sept 2005 and I tried again. Again with no
success!
I found Tropical Waves on the Internet, ordered three CDs and they
arrived in UK in a few days, each of them signed by John.
Many thanks and keep up the good work. You and the station are a credit

Hi Uncle,
Hope you’re well. Have not had the chance to see how your stay with us
was and how your Gig went. I have to say you made quite an impression
with the staff here to the extent Reception played your CD on the Lobby
area. […] Janelle from Housekeeping was chuffed in receiving your CD and
played it over that weekend. One of the Housekeepers here, who is
Guyanese, would like to buy your CD so I gave her your web address where
she can buy it. […]

I understand in January you are going to Kampala, Uganda, for Miss Star

Hi Group members
Doctor Slingshot took the Porchester Hall, West London Bayswater,
Nigerian audience by storm.
This is a very True Guyanese that I can readily call a true friend and
associate. This man has so much Talent, and to see also how people from
the African Continent embraced this wonderful Son of Guyana … and more
so he is a Skeldonian!
On this cold and winters evening the 26th November 2005, this Doctor
Sling-Shot had a chemical formula that really turn the cold--cold
air--Hot--Hot and hotter and better still the people in the audience
came alive.
He had the Nigerian Crowd crying out for more-----more ----and yet more!
It has been a privilege to have been here at this Nigerian Pageant, and
I am so Proud to have met this…this wonderful human being with so much
musical talent, and so modest and down to earth.
[…]
My dear, dear friend Sling-Shot sang a song which he had written some
time ago called “Remembering” for his late wife, who died of pancreatic
cancer, which he had never sang before. But he sang the song for the
memory of 8-year-old Natasha Ojie who died of the same disease. The song
was so moving that some in the audience were in tears; more so when he
sang part of the song acappella with some vocal backing from a group.
[…]
So my good friend Doctor long you may continue [as] we will fly the flag
of our beloved Guyana! And with you as an Ambassador, we will have
nothing to worry about.

Hi Group
I was having a very busy time with Doctor Sling-Shot. He was in our
Lovely London town
He was over here for a few days. Slingshot is such a wonderful Human
being, and a very nice person to be with. We had a lot to talk about.
He is a Very true Son of Guyana and more so he is Berbician and
Skeldonian. So much talented people we produce in Berbice and [he] is
surely one.
It is the very first time I have met Slingshot and it is like I have
known Slingshot all my life. We have spent Saturday together. I took him
out sight seeing. Among the sights I took him to see the Famous, one and
only Gujarat Temple out side India, and the World famous Southall,
showing him the diversity in London.
I have introduced him to some real Indian food, and long should our
friend ship last.
He is a wonderful person to know
Regards
Samad
Ps He gave me two CD's - Home Sweet Home, and Mash Fever,

We met at the dinner and dance for Miss Guyana 2005 in Kensington.
I bought 3 of your CD’s … kept 1 and gave my mum and my brother the
other 2. We love your music and it really makes me want to be back home.
I came to England when I was 12 and I haven’t been back since although
I’m planning to visit soon.
Take care and keep on singing!
Best wishes
Jo x

Hi Uncle,
Hope you are well and you had a safe journey back. It was nice to
catch-up over the weekend.
Yesterday when I arrived home, Luc & Callum were listening to one of
your CDs, "Home Sweet Home". Think they're getting into the Calypso
groove.
Speak to you soon and regards to the family.

Subject: My favorite high school teacher
My John Drepaul (Sir John) (Slingshot),
Several months ago I came across an article in the Guyana Chronicle
mentioning a solo singer by the name ‘Slingshot’ from Berbice with a
guitar keeping a promise to sing for [some] not so fortunate person[s]
in Guyana. Not until yesterday when I came across another article about
‘Slingshot’ and Miss Guyana that I knew it is my favorite teacher ever-
the infamous John Drepaul.
I am very happy and proud that you have made it in the entertainment
world. I am not surprised because I know you have the ability and the
love of music to be successful.
You had a great positive impact on my life as a student in high school.
I still remember the trip with you and a few other Tagore High School
students to your father’s house in Craig. I still remember your
persistence in the boys calling the girls Miss and their surname. I
still remember your advice to pursue your dreams.
I will certainly get a few of your CD’s. Did you produce any videos as
well?
I also love the name ‘Slingshot’, having been an owner of several
slingshots in my lifetime.
All the best!

How are ya Bud?
Or should I say "How are you, Soca Monarch!"
Got the good news via your website since I couldn't, regrettably, make
it down to Miami, but who cares, "You da man!"
What can I say; you're just getting better and better.
Now, I sincerely hope that you and yours made it through H'cane Wilma
unscathed. We did just fine - almost negligible damage, although we were
in the "eye" of that bad girl.
[…] I still plan on making that trip sometime in the near future.
Well John, I've gotta go. I do hope this E-mail thing works. […] Until
then, keep up the good work.
